Metallica Announces ‘Life Burns Faster’ Residency at Las Vegas Sphere

Metallica’s James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett in the Hamptons last year.

Legendary heavy metal band Metallica has officially announced a groundbreaking concert residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, confirming an eight-show run this October titled “Life Burns Faster” — a name inspired by a lyric from their classic song “Master of Puppets.”

The residency will take place over four weekends in October 2026, with shows scheduled for October 1 & 3, 15 & 17, 22 & 24, and 29 & 31 at the state-of-the-art Sphere venue in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each weekend will feature two back-to-back performances, and true to Metallica’s recent touring tradition, no two shows will share the same setlist — a concept known among fans as the “No Repeat Weekend” format.

Named after the sprawling LED visuals and immersive audio systems housed within the Sphere, the “Life Burns Faster” residency promises to deliver a unique live experience that pushes the boundaries of traditional concert production. The venue’s 16K wrap-around LED display, cutting-edge immersive sound technology and multi-sensory 4D enhancements are expected to elevate Metallica’s powerful catalog to new heights.

Drummer Lars Ulrich shared excitement about the residency in a statement, recalling his first experience at the Sphere: “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’” He added that the residency gives the band “another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting,” and emphasized how thrilled the members are to bring this ambitious production to life in six months’ time.

Metallica’s residency follows the success of their M72 World Tour, which began in 2023 and has taken the band across North America, Europe and the Middle East. The residency run builds on that momentum — combining fan-favorite classics with the band’s signature energy and deep cuts drawn from their extensive catalog.

Tickets for the “Life Burns Faster” residency will go on sale to the public on March 6 at 10 a.m. PT, with several presale periods available in the days leading up to the general sale. In addition to single-night tickets, Metallica is offering two-night packages, travel packages and VIP experiences that include special access and exclusive amenities.

Metallica joins a growing list of major artists who have embraced the cutting-edge Sphere venue — following residencies and performances by acts like U2, Dead & Company, and the Eagles — but they will be one of the first heavy metal bands to undertake such an immersive run. This residency is expected to be one of the most talked-about music events of fall 2026 and a must-see for fans of rock and metal worldwide.

Clippers Edge Nuggets 115–114 After Jamal Murray Misses Late Free Throw

The Los Angeles Clippers escaped Denver with a dramatic 115–114 victory over the Denver Nuggets after Jamal Murray missed a potential game-tying free throw with just 0.9 seconds remaining.

In a matchup that felt like a playoff preview, both Western Conference contenders traded big shots and defensive stops throughout the night. The intensity never dipped, and neither team was able to build a comfortable cushion, setting up a tense finish.

A Tight Battle From Start to Finish

The game featured multiple lead changes, with both teams executing efficiently on offense. Denver relied on its core stars to create scoring opportunities in crunch time, while the Clippers countered with balanced scoring and timely perimeter shooting.

By the fourth quarter, every possession carried added weight. The Clippers managed to grab a slim lead in the final minute, forcing the Nuggets into one last attempt to steal the game.

The Decisive Moment

With 0.9 seconds left and Denver trailing by one, Murray was fouled on a three-point attempt — giving him three free throws and a chance to tie or win the game.

He calmly sank the first two free throws, bringing the Nuggets within a point and setting up a dramatic final attempt from the line. But the third shot — the one that would have tied the contest — bounced off the rim.

The Clippers secured the rebound as time expired, sealing the 115–114 win and silencing the home crowd.

What’s Next

The victory strengthens the Clippers’ standing in the tightly contested Western Conference race and highlights their ability to close out high-pressure situations.

For the Nuggets, the loss is a painful one, especially given how close they came to forcing overtime. Still, the competitive performance underscores why Denver remains one of the conference’s top threats as the season progresses.

If these teams meet again in the postseason, this thriller may only be a preview of what’s to come.
